Bring your own AI key

AddisDB AI is free when you supply your own provider key. Here is where it is stored and how to rotate it.

AI features — natural-language queries, mock data, and chat — run against your own provider key. You paste it once in Settings → AI.

Where the key lives

The key is written to your OS’s secure credential store (macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, or the Linux Secret Service), not the config file, and is only ever sent directly to your AI provider. It never passes through AddisDB servers.

Rotating or removing a key

  1. Open Settings → AI.
  2. Click Clear key to remove the current one.
  3. Paste a new key and Save to rotate.
